JTAPIC Support
USAARL's contribution to the JTAPIC program centers on accident (ground and aviation) and combat aviation events data collection, integration, analysis, dissemination, and storage in collaboration with other JTAPIC partners. Primary areas of focus and support by the Survival Analysis Division, which includes the JTAPIC team and Aviation Life Support Equipment Retrieval Program (ALSERP) are:
- Warfighter personal protective equipment analysis and safety and injury mitigation identification strategies.
- Short notice response development from the U.S. Army and other government and non-government customers to injury mitigation questions including ocular and auditory protection. The division also assists with informing customers about the distribution/types of wounds occurring during the full spectrum of military operations.
- USAARL's ALSERP, which serves a vital role in maximizing the level of protection afforded to Army aircrew members by analyzing aviation life support equipment (ALSE), studying injury mechanisms, tracking patterns, and bringing awareness to issues that can potentially decrease the level of protection afforded to them.
- Collaboration with USAARL's Injury Biomechanics Division, which is interested in the impact of abnormal environments on normal anatomy, and is uniquely staffed with a team of engineers, aviators, health care professionals, and Soldiers.

USAARL aims to provide medical research in the military operations environment to sustain the Warfighter's performance by delivering medical research and developing, testing, and evaluating solutions to air and ground Warriors.

About
USAARL conducts medical research to develop and provide the biomedical basis for countermeasures that prevent and mitigate Warrior injury.
USAARL's medical research includes developing return-to-duty standards for Soldiers suffering from neurosensory injuries, mild traumatic brain injuries, determining the effectiveness of life support equipment, and preventing and mitigating ground crew and aircrew biomechanical injuries.
USAARL applies its medical, psychological, physiological, and engineering knowledge and skills to improve systems for the end user - the U.S. Army Warfighter. In doing so, the Laboratory has had an immeasurable effect on improving Army systems and has helped save countless lives.
USAARL's goal is to be recognized as the Army's focal point for research and expert consultation on issues related to medical, physiological, and psychological support of the Aviator and Warrior.
Through research, USAARL supports the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command's motto, "Protect, Project, Sustain."
